Educators Rising Ohio would like to welcome Dr. Joshua R. Coleman as the new state coordinator. He will be working with Mrs. Dee Anna Chickerella for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year and then taking sole possession of the position in 2024-2025. Dr. Coleman comes to the office of Career-Tech Education from the field as an educator of more than 17 years. After earning his Bachelor’s from Wilmington College in Education and English, Josh spent seven years teaching English and Theatre courses in public education settings, and went on to obtain a Masters of Education degree at Wilmington College. After this, he transitioned to the CTE Field, first as a CTE instructor running a Teaching Professions program and was an advisor to the local chapter of Educators Rising CTSO, and then as an academic instructor for Junior and Senior English, where he worked on curriculum redesign and development for the English courses. In 2020, Dr. Coleman earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership Studies from Xavier University, and his study on the Ohio CCP program was selected for publication in the Journal for Higher Education Theory and Practice in the Spring of 2022, and he presented his findings at the annual Lily Conference at Miami University in fall of 2022. Dr. Coleman recently returned to his hometown area of Portsmouth, Ohio where he, his wife, and their two kids live just minutes away from the family farm where they raise goats and horses. He is a huge nerd/geek being a big fan of all things sci-fi and fantasy and is a martial arts enthusiast.
